Participate in the Nickels for Nails Drive between April 16th to May 21st 2012.
Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut will be conducting its second annual Nickels for Nails coin collection drive. Proceeds from the Nickels for Nails drive will go into a fund for a youth sponsored and built house in New London County. In addition, 10% of the money raised will be tithed to Habitat for Humanity in Haiti, Guatemala, and Egypt to help eliminate poverty housing throughout the world.
Make a difference through Nickels for Nails and see first-hand how donating your spare change can make a life altering difference in the lives of the families Habitat serves.
Your school's, church's or community's involvement in the Nickels for Nails drive may be as substantial or as minimal as you prefer. It may range from organizing a coin collection competition between classrooms or simply placing a collection container in the office. The group may also organize events to support the Nickels for Nails Drive, such as a dance, dress down day or bazaar.
We encourage youth to take the initiative to coordinate this project for their group; however we do ask that there be an adult supervisor for the project and our point of contact.
Please work together with others at in your school, congregation or community center to run a Nickels for Nails Drive. Groups that sign up will have access to resources such as curriculums for the teachers, banners to print and put onto your coin collection containers and one on one support throughout the drive.
The group that raises the most money will be recognized by Habitat for Humanity AND will be able to go on the floor at a Connecticut Sun basketball game to have their picture taken. This picture will be featured in the Habitat from Humanity Newsletter, on here, on facebook and a variety of other places.
