On Saturday September 11, at 8:00 am Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut will kick off "Faith Works" a weekend event calling all volunteers from every faith and no faith to join us as we participate in Habitat Internationals Building on Faith celebration. We are seeking volunteers to participate in the 8:00 am service on 9/11 and join us to work on two construction sites - Fitch Avenue and Cape Ann Court. Volunteers can sign up on Volunteer UP for any of the three homes being worked on, for either Saturday 9/11 or Sunday 9/12 (12:30 - 4:30).

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Fitch Avenue build site for the 8:00 am service on Saturday, September 11 and then will be directed to the different homes under construction immediately after the service concludes.

Especially on 9/11, Habitat's "Theology of the Hammer" puts into action the belief that people of all faiths and no faith, from all backgrounds and circumstances, can use a hammer and a nail to build a stronger community, perhaps even a more harmonious world, while building simple decent shelter for every man, woman and child on earth. Won't you join us?

For more information please call 860-442-7890, press 0.

Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut (HFHSECT) is a local unit of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit Christian housing organization. The organization relies on ciitzen engagement and is open to people of all faiths or no faith, who together with a hammer and nails can overcome differences to build a stronger community.

HFHSECT goal is to make sure every man, woman and child has simple, decent shelter. Since 1987, the organization has completed 42 houses throughout New London County. This has been achieved in partnership with our Habitat families, who contribute at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” to Habitat in order to be eligible to buy their own home which HFHSECT sells to them at cost, with a no interest mortgage. Habitat homes are built through the dedication of the many volunteers who share their time and talents for construction and related activities and through the financial contributions of the many caring individuals, faith based organizations, businesses and civic groups who are our neighbors in this community.
