Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut (HFHSECT) is a local unit of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit Christian housing organization. The organization relies on ciitzen engagement and is open to people of all faiths or no faith, who together with a hammer and nails can overcome differences to build a stronger community.

HFHSECT goal is to make sure every man, woman and child has simple, decent shelter.  Since 1987, the organization has completed 42 houses throughout New London County. This has been achieved in partnership with our Habitat families, who contribute at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” to Habitat in order to be eligible to buy their own home which HFHSECT sells to them at cost, with a no interest mortgage. Habitat homes are built through the dedication of the many volunteers who share their time and talents for construction and related activities and through the financial contributions of the many caring individuals, faith based organizations, businesses and civic groups who are our neighbors in this community.
