Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut (HFHSECT) is a local unit of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit interdenominational Christian housing organization. HFHSECT exists for the sole purpose of providing simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with low-income families in need throughout New London County.

Our goal is to make a ‘forever’ difference in the lives of others, to help them fulfill their dream of homeownership, and to eliminate sub-standard housing in Southeastern Connecticut.

Since 1987, HFHSECT has completed 36 houses throughout New London County. This has been achieved in partnership with our Habitat families, who contribute at least 400 hours of “sweat equity” to Habitat in order to be eligible to buy their own home which HFHSECT sells to them at cost, with a no interest mortgage. Habitat homes are built through the dedication of the many volunteers who share their time and talents for construction and related activities and through the financial contributions of the many caring individuals, faith based organizations, businesses and civic groups who are our neighbors in this community.
